Origin of Ethnicraft solid teak wood
Ethnicraft teak wood comes from two sources: from Javanese timber reclaimed from neglected buildings and from teak plantations. Ethnicraft works with the Indonesian government to ensure only a certain number of trees are felled each year and is committed to the replanting of trees. Both the recycled teak and plantation teak are 100% FSC certified.
Advantages of Ethnicraft teak furniture
Highest quality wood: For every piece of furniture, Ethnicraft invests the time to select the highest quality wood. This pertains to the knots, splits and "occasional imperfections" that enhance and add to the beauty and character of the designs. Variations in wood grain, texture, color and other natural characteristics are inherent to solid wood.
Durability: No other wood shares teak's exceptional strength and durability. Teak is a dense hardwood with high natural oil content, thereby repelling termites and moisture. Teak will remain in good condition for a long time, resisting extreme temperatures, and is therefore a discerning investment with a style that outlives time.
Highest quality mechanisms: Ethnicraft products are equipped with high quality mechanisms from Blum, Poettker and Hettich. These mechanisms complement the convenient designs of extendable dining tables, push-to-open drawers, soft closing drawers and doors. Most of our products are from plantation teak, which is highly suited for such technical designs.
Preparation of Ethnicraft teak
All Ethnicraft teak wood has been kiln dried to achieve moisture content between 8 to 12%. This is to avoid expansion and contraction even under extreme conditions. In addition, the furniture is designed in such a way to allow some unavoidable expansion and contraction without creating cracks. Since its inception, Ethnicraft has expanded its clientele base to Europe, North America, Japan and South Korea, all of which experience extremely tough hygrometric conditions with important changes over the seasons. Still, Ethnicraft has been very successful in these countries thanks to the superior wood quality and production processes.
Ethnicraft sources only the highest quality plantation and recycled teak wood and equips them with high quality mechanisms from Blum, Poettker and Hettich. However, should any natural cracks occur to your wood or if you would like to replace defective hardware, simply contact us and we will replace the item without any charge.
